Anti-wrinkle injections refer to treatments that use botulinum toxin to relax facial muscles and soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
Botox® is a brand name for one type of botulinum toxin used in this treatment — much like how “Hoover” is a brand of vacuum cleaner.
Important: Botulinum toxin is a prescription-only medicine (POM). It cannot be advertised to the public. At SO Aesthetics, all anti-wrinkle treatments are prescribed by a qualified doctor after an in-person consultation and are only provided if medically appropriate.
How Long Do Anti-Wrinkle Injections Last?
On average, results last between 3 and 4 months.
Some patients may find they last longer with regular treatments. It’s recommended to wait at least 12 weeks between appointments.
Are Anti-Wrinkle Injections Safe?
Yes — when carried out by trained professionals.
At our clinic, all treatments are prescribed by a medical doctor and administered by a qualified nurse. Side effects are usually minor and temporary, such as mild swelling or redness.

- Do not take aspirin, ibuprofen, or Advil for two days after treatment, OR for one week prior to treatment
- Do not ice the swollen area as you may disturb the product placed
- Do not rub or massage face for four hours after treatment – this will spread the injected material to other muscles in your face
- Avoid exercise, apart from walking, for 24 hours after treatment
What Happens at Your Appointment
When you arrive, Nurse Susie will welcome you and discuss your goals. If anti-wrinkle treatment is suitable, you’ll be seen by Dr Keith for a prescription. The treatment itself takes around 15 minutes.
Your facial muscles will be assessed, your skin will be cleaned, and injections placed precisely using a fine needle. You’ll receive aftercare advice and, if it’s your first visit, we’ll book a free review 2 weeks later to check the results.
